TOPIC: DON'T LET OTHERS SUFFER ALONE
THEME SCRIPTURE: “I hurt with the hurt of my people. I mourn and am overcome with grief.” — Jeremiah 8:21
PREPARATORY QUESTION
When someone around you is hurting, do you move closer or keep your distance?
Pain often makes people uncomfortable. When Kevin Ware suffered a devastating leg injury on the basketball court, some players turned away, others cried, and a few could not bear to watch. But Luke Hancock moved toward his injured friend. He knelt beside him, held his hand, and prayed.
Why? “I didn’t want my friend to suffer alone.”
That is the heart of compassionate Christianity.
Jeremiah did not stand at a safe distance from Judah’s suffering. He identified with his people. He wept over Jerusalem, interceded for them, and continued speaking the difficult truth they needed to hear. His compassion was not merely emotional; it moved him to action.
We will encounter people who are wounded by loss, failure, disappointment, sin, rejection, or circumstances beyond their control. We may not be able to remove their pain, but we can refuse to let them face it alone.
Beloved, sometimes what a suffering person needs most is not an explanation but a presence. A prayer. A listening ear. A hand to hold. A word of truth spoken with love.
Jesus calls us to enter the pain of others and become His hands, feet, and voice. Compassion does not always require solving the problem. Sometimes it simply means staying.
Key Takeaway
You may not be able to stop someone's pain, but you can help them carry it.
Beloved, move toward hurting people, not away from them. Let your presence, prayer, and compassion remind someone that they do not have to suffer alone.
God bless you more

PRAYER
Father, give me a heart that notices the pain of others. Keep me from becoming indifferent to suffering. Teach me to move toward those who hurt, to pray with them, listen to them, encourage them, and speak Your truth with love. Make me a faithful presence in someone’s difficult season today. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
