PREPARATORY QUESTION
Do I measure my blessings by what I possess, or by what God has already given me in Christ?
The desire to be blessed is common to every human being. However, many people define blessing by visible things—wealth, comfort, success, or recognition. While God may provide these things, Scripture reveals that the deepest blessings are found in our relationship with Him.
Paul declares, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). Notice that Paul speaks of believers as already blessed. Our blessing is not only something we are waiting to receive; it is a present reality because we belong to Christ.
In Christ, we have received forgiveness, acceptance, a new identity, and the hope of eternal life. These blessings cannot be removed by changing circumstances, financial limitations, or human opinions. They are secured by God’s grace and faithfulness.
Understanding that we are blessed changes our perspective. Instead of living with constant dissatisfaction, we learn gratitude. Instead of comparing ourselves with others, we recognize the unique grace God has placed upon our lives. A blessed person is not simply someone who has many things; it is someone who knows they have received what matters most from God.
This truth does not make us passive. God’s blessings are meant to shape how we live. Those who have received grace are called to extend grace. Those who have received God’s love are called to reflect His love to others.
Your greatest blessing is not found in what you can gain from God, but in what you have become through your relationship with Him.
