TOPIC: JESUS IS GREATER THAN ALL

THEME SCRIPTURE: “But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.” — Hebrews 3:6

PREPARATORY QUESTION
What or whom are you tempted to place alongside Christ as the ultimate source of your confidence?

Every generation has its heroes. In Israel’s history, Abraham represented faith, David represented kingship, Joseph represented preservation, and Moses represented deliverance and divine revelation. Yet Hebrews presents a truth that surpasses them all: Jesus is greater.

Moses was unquestionably faithful, but he was a servant in God’s house. Jesus is the Son over God’s house. Moses served the household; Christ has authority over it. Moses received the Law; Christ is the fulfillment to which the Law points. Moses led Israel toward the Promised Land; Christ brings us into the eternal inheritance of God.

This distinction matters because our faith is not ultimately built on a servant, a prophet, a leader, a tradition, or even an extraordinary experience. Our confidence rests in the Son.

And there is something remarkable about what Christ has accomplished for us: “we are God’s house” (Hebrews 3:6). Through faith in Christ, we are no longer outsiders looking toward God’s family. We belong to Him. John declares that those who receive Christ are given the right to become children of God (John 1:12).

As God's children, we are also heirs with Christ. That inheritance is glorious, but Scripture does not hide the cost. Romans 8:17 reminds us that if we share in Christ’s glory, we also share in His sufferings.

Following Jesus does not mean a life without hardship. It means hardship no longer has the final word. We belong to the Son, and therefore our future is secured in Him.

So, hold firmly to your confidence. Circumstances may change. Human leaders may disappoint. Your strength may weaken. But Jesus remains greater.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for making me Your child through Christ. Help me to keep Jesus above every person, achievement, fear, and circumstance. Strengthen my confidence when life becomes difficult, and help me remain faithful until the end. May I live conscious of the inheritance I have in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
