TOPIC: SEEK THE KINGDOM AND GET ALL OTHERS
THEME SCRIPTURE: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” —Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
PREPARATORY QUESTION
What are you seeking first in this life other than the kingdom of God or what have you prioritized above God?
Watch this: Jesus is not offering a motivational hierarchy. He is declaring an order of life.
“Seek first” is not about time management—it is about allegiance. It determines what gets priority in your decisions, attention, and trust.
The paradox is simple but disruptive: what you stop chasing for yourself, God takes responsibility for supplying.
Human instinct says survival first, security first, reputation first, then God if possible. Jesus reverses the sequence. He places God first and calls everything else “added.”
That word “added” matters. It implies provision, not pursuit. You are not meant to carry the weight of securing what God has already committed to supply.
Many believers exhaust themselves not because God is absent, but because their priorities are inverted. They are chasing “these things” while neglecting the Kingdom.
“Kingdom” here is not abstract. It is God’s rule—His way of ordering life. Seeking it means aligning decisions, desires, and direction with His authority.
“Righteousness” is not self-perfection. It is right alignment with God’s will. A life that agrees with God’s standards even when it costs personal convenience.
The promise is not unlimited comfort. It is provision within alignment. “All these things” refers to what is needed for life, not what is driven by excess or comparison.
This paradox confronts anxiety at its root: control. Because seeking first means relinquishing the illusion that you must secure everything yourself.
When God is first, responsibility shifts. You are no longer the source of provision—you are the steward of obedience.

PRAYER
Father, reorder my life around Your Kingdom. Remove every misplaced priority and teach me to seek You first in all things. Let my trust rest in Your provision, not my striving. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
