TOPIC: REMAIN CONNECTED
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me“. —John 15:4–5
PREPARATORY QUESTION
Where have you been relying on your own strength instead of remaining in Christ?
Jesus uses the picture of a vine and its branches to reveal a simple but life-shaping truth: fruitfulness is impossible without connection. A branch does not struggle to produce grapes; it simply stays attached to the vine. Its life, nourishment, and strength all come from that relationship.
The Greek word translated "remain" means to stay, live, or make yourself at home. Jesus is inviting us into more than occasional moments of devotion. He calls us to a continual relationship where we make our home in Him and allow His Word, presence, and character to shape every part of our lives.
It is easy to reduce our walk with Christ to brief encounters—a prayer before work, a Sunday service, or a quick reading of Scripture. Yet Jesus is not looking for occasional visitors. He desires abiding followers whose thoughts, choices, and priorities are rooted in Him.
When we remain in Christ, His life flows through us. Our words carry grace, our actions reflect love, and our lives become a source of encouragement to others. The fruit is not manufactured by human effort but produced through a living connection with Him.
Every day presents a choice: strive in your own strength or stay connected to the One who never runs dry. The branch flourishes only because it remains on the vine. So will you.
