PREPARATORY QUESTION
Whose approval governs your decisions—God's or people's?
One of the clearest symptoms of Phariseeism is an unhealthy addiction to human approval. The Pharisees prayed, gave, fasted, and served publicly—not because they loved God, but because they loved recognition. Their audience was people, not the Lord.
Jesus exposed this deception repeatedly. Outwardly they appeared devoted, but inwardly they craved applause. Their religion was a performance, and their reward was the admiration of men. That was all they received.
This danger has not disappeared. It has simply changed its appearance.
Today, Phariseeism is seen whenever Christians shape their convictions to protect their reputation. It appears when we remain silent because truth is unpopular. It surfaces when ministry becomes a platform for recognition instead of service. It thrives when image matters more than integrity and public acceptance becomes more valuable than God's pleasure.
A person controlled by the fear of people will eventually compromise the truth. You cannot faithfully follow Christ while constantly seeking everyone's approval. The gospel will offend pride. Holiness will invite criticism. Obedience will sometimes cost friendships, opportunities, and popularity.
Do not mistake applause for God's approval. Crowds once shouted "Hosanna" to Jesus and only days later cried, "Crucify Him!" Public opinion is unstable. God's truth is stable.
The fear of the Lord produces courage because it settles one question: What does God think? Once that question is answered, every other opinion takes its rightful place.
Examine your heart carefully. If your greatest concern is how people see you, you are already drifting toward Phariseeism. A disciple does not live for compliments. He lives for faithfulness.

PRAYER
Father, deliver me from the craving for human approval. Expose every trace of pride and performance in my heart. Teach me to fear You above every person and to value Your approval above every applause. Give me the courage to stand for truth, the humility to serve without recognition, and the faithfulness to obey You whether I am celebrated or rejected. Let my life bring glory to Christ alone.
