TOPIC: THE POWER OF A SIMPLE 'YES'
THEME SCRIPTURE : "And Mary said, 'I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled.'" — Luke 1:38 (NIV)
PREPARATORY QUESTION
What is God asking of you right now that you keep overthinking instead of simply obeying?
Mary, the mother of Jesus, was not asked for a long explanation.
She was asked for a response.
God did not present her with a full map of how everything would unfold. He gave her a calling that would disrupt her life, reshape her future, and expose her to misunderstanding. Yet her response was simple: she yielded.
“I am the Lord’s servant.”
That statement is not poetic. It is surrender.
Many believers struggle not because God is unclear, but because obedience feels uncertain. We want guarantees before we give God our yes. We want outcomes before we commit. We want control before surrender.
But faith rarely works that way.
Obedience often begins before understanding catches up.
Mary’s yes came with risk. Social misunderstanding. Personal inconvenience. Unplanned responsibility. Yet she chose trust over control.
This is where many people stall spiritually. They wait for perfect conditions before obeying God. But delayed obedience is often disguised disobedience.
God is still looking for people who will say yes without demanding full explanations. Not because God is unreasonable, but because trust is revealed in obedience, not in certainty.
Your “yes” may not look dramatic. It may be a quiet decision to forgive. A step toward reconciliation. A commitment to share your faith. A change in direction. A surrender of a long-held plan.
Heaven does not measure the size of the yes. It measures the sincerity of it.
Mary’s life shows that God does not only call the qualified—He qualifies the yielded.

PRAYER

Give me the courage to say yes to Your will, even when I do not see the full picture. Let my life be shaped by obedience. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
