TOPIC: ONE MORE OPPORTUNITY
THEME SCRIPTURE: "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." — Psalm 90:12 (NIV)
PREPARATORY QUESTION
If today were your last opportunity to influence someone for Christ, who would come to mind?
One of the greatest illusions in life is the assumption that there will always be another opportunity.
Another conversation.
Another phone call.
Another visit.
Another chance to share Christ.
Sometimes there is. Sometimes there is not.
Scripture consistently reminds us that life is brief. Moses compared our days to a passing shadow. James described life as a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Time is not a resource we control; it is a gift we are entrusted with.
Yet many believers live as though opportunities are unlimited.
We postpone difficult conversations.
We delay acts of obedience.
We intend to share the gospel "someday."
But someday is not guaranteed.
Every day, people enter eternity. Some are family members. Some are friends. Some are coworkers. Some are neighbors we see regularly. Once that moment comes, the opportunity to influence them for Christ is over.
This reality is not meant to create panic. It is meant to create urgency.
Biblical urgency is not reckless pressure. It is the recognition that what matters most cannot be endlessly postponed.
The apostle Paul lived with this perspective. He made the most of every opportunity because he understood the value of time and the reality of eternity.
The same wisdom is needed today. So, let's ask:
Who have you been meaning to call?
Who have you been meaning to encourage?
Who have you been meaning to invite to church?
Who have you been meaning to share the gospel with?
These all are opportunities for godly influence.

PRAYER
Father, teach me to value time the way You do. Deliver me from complacency and procrastination. Help me recognize and seize the opportunities You place before me. Give me courage to speak, wisdom to act, and urgency to obey. May I live each day in light of eternity and faithfully point others to Christ. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
