TOPIC: THE HARVEST WILL NOT WAIT
THEME SCRIPTURE: "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." — Matthew 9:37-38
PREPARATORY QUESTION
Are you praying for God to send workers into the harvest while refusing to be one yourself?
After seeing the spiritual condition of the crowds, Jesus made a startling observation. The problem was not the harvest. The problem was the workers.
The fields were ready.
The need was urgent.
The opportunity was present.
But there were too few people willing to engage.
That reality has not changed.
Millions of people live without Christ. Many are searching for meaning, hope, forgiveness, and truth. Some are more open to the gospel than we realize. Yet countless believers remain spectators rather than participants in God's mission.
It is easy to assume someone else will do the work.
A pastor.
A missionary.
A church leader.
A more mature Christian.
But Jesus did not reserve the harvest for a select few. Every believer has a role to play.
Notice that Jesus first instructed His disciples to pray for workers. Why? Because evangelism begins with dependence on God. No amount of effort can change a human heart. We need God to draw people to Himself.
Yet there is an irony in this passage. The disciples prayed for workers, and shortly afterward, Jesus sent them into the harvest. Often, the answer to our prayer is our own obedience.
We ask God to reach our community while avoiding gospel conversations.
We ask God to save our family members while remaining silent about Christ.
We ask God to send workers while resisting His call to be one.

The harvest will not wait forever. Opportunities disappear. Hearts harden. Lives end. Every day brings people one step closer to eternity.
Pray for the harvest.
Then step into it.
God does not need perfect workers. He uses willing ones like you.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your heart for the lost. Forgive me for the times I have expected others to do the work You have called me to do. Give me a willing heart, open eyes, and bold faith. Help me to pray faithfully and serve obediently in Your harvest field. Use my life to point people to Jesus while there is still time. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
