TOPIC: WHOSE SLAVE ARE YOU?
THEME SCRIPTURE: "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?"— Romans 6:16
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS
Who or what is truly influencing the choices I make each day—Christ, self, or the desires of the flesh?
These things says the Lord Jesus Christ, the faithful and true Master, who purchased us with His own blood.
“I know your works”, says the Lord. Thus, He knows our desire for freedom and our longing to live a life that honors Him. He sees our service, our worship, our prayers, and our efforts to follow His will. Yeah, He see every battle fought against temptation and every step taken in obedience. These things are pleasing in His sight.
“Nevertheless, I have this against many of you”, declares the Lord. You seek freedom while resisting surrender. You desire the benefits of My lordship without fully yielding to My authority. “At times you obey Me selectively, offering Me certain areas of your life while withholding others. You call Me Lord, yet there are places in your heart where competing masters still hold influence”, says the Lord.
Do you not understand that everyone serves a master? The question is not whether you’re serving, but whom you’re serving. Sin promises freedom but produces bondage. Self-will promises satisfaction but leads to emptiness. Only obedience to God leads to true life.
Remember therefore that when He redeemed you, He did not merely rescue you from something; He rescued you for something. You were set free from sin so that you might become servants of righteousness. His commands are not chains; they are the pathway to freedom. His lordship is not oppression; it is life.
“Repent of divided allegiance lest I spew you out of my mouth,” declares the Lord. Lay down every idol, every hidden compromise, every competing affection. Do not offer your body, mind, ambitions, relationships, or resources to the service of sin, money or self-aggrandizement. Present them wholly to God.
The world teaches that freedom means doing whatever you desire. His kingdom teaches that freedom is becoming all that you were created to be through loving obedience to your Creator.
To the one who overcomes, God will grant the joy of wholehearted devotion. He shall know the liberty that comes from obedience, the peace that comes from submission, and the fruit that comes from abiding in Him. His life shall increasingly reflect God’s character, and his labor in Him shall not be in vain.
Today, meditate on this and amend your ways: For the wages (or salary) of sin is death, but His gift is eternal life through Christ Jesus your Lord.

- What practical step can I take today to strengthen my allegiance to Jesus?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, Thank You for redeeming me through the blood of Jesus Christ and setting me free from the tyranny of sin. Forgive me for the times I have sought independence from You and given my loyalty to lesser masters. Help me to surrender every area of my life to Your lordship. Teach me that true freedom is found not in self-rule but in joyful obedience to You. Strengthen me by Your Holy Spirit to resist sin, reject compromise, and walk faithfully in Your ways.
My thoughts, words, actions, and desires are increasingly reflecting a heart fully devoted to Christ. My life is bearing the fruit of righteousness that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
