TOPIC: DEAD TO SIN, ALIVE TO GOD
THEME SCRIPTURE: "Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord."— Romans 6:11
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS
Do you see yourself the way God sees you—a person set free from sin's dominion and made alive in Christ?
These things says the Lord Jesus Christ, who died and rose again and now lives forevermore.
Indeed, Christians today live in difficult and tempting times, and God sees all the effort believers everywhere have wrought, that they might remain faithful. He sees our desire to please Him and the battles we fight against temptations. He knows the moments when we choose obedience over compromise, truth over deception, and faith over fear. He sees every act of surrender that no one else notices. These things are precious in His sight.
“Yet I have this to challenge you”, says the Lord. You continue to think of yourselves as slaves when I have called you sons and daughters. Though I have broken sin's authority over you, you often yield yourselves as though sin still reigns. You believe the accusations of the enemy more readily than the declarations of My Word. You struggle against old habits while forgetting your new identity.
Why do you live as prisoners when Christ has opened the prison door? Why do you allow defeated enemies to intimidate you? Have you forgotten that you were crucified with Christ and raised with Him?
Remember therefore what your Lord accomplished on the cross. Your old self was crucified with Christ. Sin is no longer your master. You are no longer defined by your past failures, former addictions, old wounds, or previous way of life. You belong to God.
Therefore, do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness. Present your mind, your tongue, your hands, your ambitions, and your desires to God. Daily, choose to reckon as true what God has already declared to be true. You are dead to sin and alive to God. This is your reality.
When temptation comes, do not merely fight it as one seeking victory. Fight it as one who already stands in His victory. Let your faith align with My Word rather than your feelings. You are so much into your feelings that you are not into my Word.
Beloved, to you, and all those who overcomes will God grant sustained and increasing freedom from the power of sin. He shall know the joy of walking in the Spirit, the confidence of sonship, and the peace that comes from obedience. His strength shall be made perfect in your weakness, and His life shall be manifested through yours.
Throughout the day, meditate on these things, and your profiting would appear unto all men.

1. In what areas of my life do I still think and act as though sin is my master?
2. How does my understanding of my identity in Christ affect my daily decisions?
3. What old labels or past failures am I allowing to define me?
4. What practical steps can I take today to present myself to God as an instrument of righteousness?
5. How can I rely more fully on the Holy Spirit rather than my own strength?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You that through Jesus Christ I have died to sin and been raised to new life. Help me to believe and embrace the truth of who I am in Christ. Forgive me for the times I have lived as though I were still bound by what You have already broken. Teach me to present every part of my life to You as an instrument of righteousness. Strengthen me by Your Spirit to resist temptation and walk in obedience. Help me to see myself through the lens of Your grace and truth, and to live each day in the freedom Christ purchased for me. Let my life increasingly reflect the reality that I belong to You and that Your resurrection power is at work within me. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
