TOPIC: STAYING WHEN IT FEELS DRY
THEME SCRIPTURE “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.” — Hebrews 10:36
PREPARATORY QUESTION
Why must we persevere to do the will of God if it becomes challenging to do so?
Beloved, there comes a stage in your walk with God where everything feels…quiet. The clarity you once had may seem distant. The passion that fueled your early steps may not feel as strong. This is where many misunderstand what is happening.
Dryness is not always distance from God—it is often an invitation to deeper maturity.
In the beginning, obedience may feel energized by conviction and emotion. But God does not intend for you to depend on feelings to sustain your walk. He is forming something steadier—faithfulness that remains even when nothing feels rewarding.
This is where perseverance becomes real. Not dramatic, not visible, but steady. Choosing to pray when it feels routine. Choosing obedience when it feels unnoticed. Choosing God when there is no emotional reinforcement.
Do not confuse silence with absence. God is not less present because you feel less. In fact, these seasons often reveal whether your foundation is built on experience or truth.
If you walk away when it feels dry, you may never develop the depth required to sustain a lifelong relationship with God. But if you remain—if you continue in obedience, in trust, in quiet discipline—something stronger is formed within you.
Know This
- “Consistency in dryness builds strength that emotion never could.”
- “God is still working when you feel nothing.”
- “Faithfulness is proven when motivation fades.”
- “Do not measure God’s presence by your feelings.”
Beloved, if you persevere, your roots go deeper. Your faith becomes less fragile. Your commitment becomes less dependent on circumstances.
Be careful not to seek constant emotional highs as proof of spiritual health. Growth is often slow, hidden, and unremarkable in the moment—but powerful over time.
Stay. Continue. Remain faithful in what you already know is right.
God honors perseverance—not just passion.

PRAYER
Father, teach me to remain steady even when I feel nothing. Help me not to depend on emotion, but to trust in Your unchanging presence. Strengthen me to continue in obedience, even in quiet and unseen seasons. Build in me a faith that endures beyond feelings. I choose to stay with You. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
